Founded in 1968 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the Martinez Arts Association (MAA) continues to flourish within a thriving and exciting arts community, expanding its programs each year.
Situated within the city limits of Martinez, California, the MAA sponsors and participates in local art and music festivals. In May 2007, MAA opened the cooperative mARTinez Gallery, and it has since enjoyed strong support from the community.
The association’s annual fund-raiser, Art in the Park With Live Music, is held the third Sunday in August in Susana Park in downtown Martinez.
From the proceeds of the association’s fund-raising, the MAA is able to provide scholarships to local graduating seniors to encourage their artistic endeavors. Also, in response to budgetary cutbacks to K-12 schools, the MAA offers funds to teachers for purchasing art supplies.
